MAKYBE BRED BECOMING COMMON

2 September 2009

Another MAKYBE bred individual returned to winning form at Sandown today when Common Interest took out the $30,000 3YO Beau Sovereign Handicap. With blinkers first time he raced right away for a strong win to signal he is back as a serious spring contender.

A stakes winner on debut beating MAKYBE's other star graduate STARSPANGLEDBANNER last preparation in the Listed Festival of Racing Stakes at Flemington, the win brought up his third win in just five starts. Trainer Lee Freedman said after the race, "We'll now look for a Group Race over the spring."

The More Than Ready colt was an Easter graduate for MAKYBE last year fetching $485,000 and is from the stakes placed Snippets mare Common Smytzer making him a half brother to the Gr 3 Maribyrnong Plate winner Exceedingly Good, another MAKYBE recruit.

Common Smytzer, who unfortunately missed last season, has a bay yearling filly by Exceed And Excel making her a full-sister to Exceedingly Good. Currently she is being prepared at MAKYBE for the William Inglis Easter Premier Sale next year.

Common Smytzer has headed to the Hunter Valley where she will return to Vinery's More Than Ready who has also been booked to serve MAKYBE's champion mare Makybe Diva.

The MAKYBE team is looking forward to this Saturday's Makybe Diva Stakes meeting at Flemington with last start winners STARSPANGLED BANNER and CORSAIRE entered for the Group 2 Danehill Stakes.
