Moldova set for the Redoute’s Choice Stakes
Off the back of two very convincing wins, the Makybe bred filly Moldova has this Saturday’s 1200m Listed race at Caulfield firmly in her sights. Sent off a $3 fav in her most recent win at Flemington, the speedy daughter of Snitzel managed to hold off the fast finishing Knowles to win by three quarters of a length. Having drawn barrier 3 for this Saturday’s race, top jockey Brett Prebble feels the filly will definitely appreciate a bend and a running rail given how she finished off at Flemington.
With several debutants in the field, as well as stakes placed performer Memphis Rock, this race is sure to prove challenging for the classy two-year-old.
Passed in at the Gold Coast, the filly was definitely one of the more forward two-year-olds owned by the farm. The dam (La Fluorescent) had a yearling filly sell at the Gold Coast this year by Not a Single Doubt that made $360,000. With a More Than Ready weanling colt on the ground and the mare in foal to Zoustar, this is a pedigree that will hopefully be going places in the coming years.
The farm will also be cheering on Swift Sis in the race prior. The 5-year-old mare has enjoyed a new lease of life since arriving from WA, with two wins down the straight at Flemington already under her belt. Carrying a top weight of 60kg, this daughter of Husson Lightning will no doubt relish the 1100m at Caulfield with Brett Prebble in the saddle.
