Jolly Banner adds another G3 to his CV

At the ripe old age of 8, Jolly Banner showed his younger rivals how to do it once again in the Group 3 Premier Cup Handicap over 1400m at Sha Tin on the weekend. Under the guidance of Matthew Poon, the ever consistent son of Valkyrie Diva notched up his 8th win (and second Group 3) over 1400m in fine fashion taking his earnings to just shy of the $2m aussie.

A Group 3 winner in her own right, Valkyrie Diva has proven herself to be an ever reliable producer with stakes winners Wales and C’est Beau la Vie joining Jolly Banner in the black type division. Currently in foal to Zoustar, Valkyrie was given the year off the previous year having had a November filly foal by Snitzel that was recently passed in at the Inglis Easter sale and will now be retained to race by the farm.

With trainer Ricky Yiu indicating that Jolly Banner will continue on racing, who knows what may lay ahead for this veteran.
