Captured by Love wins the 1,000 Guineas

With two placing at the elite level already to her name, Captured by Love prevailed in the Group 1 at Riccarton overcoming Alabama Lass in the latest edition of a thrilling rivalry. With the two fillies holding the top two positions in the market leading into the race, captured by love settled back in the field from the jump; whilst Alabama Lass took up her usual front running position.

As they turned into the home it was Josh Parr who took captured by love back to the inside as the field came to the middle of the straight looking for fresh ground on a soft 7. With 100m to go Captured by love struck the front to claim the Group 1 win for the Te Aku team.

Sold by Milburn Creek on behalf of Makybe at the Gold Coast MM sales for $525,000, Captured by Love is the first foal out of the city winning Snitzel mare Moldova.

Moldova has a Toronado filly heading to the Inglis Easter sales this year which is sure to make plenty of shortlists.

Moldova herself is safely in foal to Wootton Basset having missed to Justify last year.
